An MR Microscopic Imaging Probe
Lee Jeong-Han

Abstract
A probe for MR (magnetic resonance) microscopy and MR microscopic imaging performed with the probe and 14.1 T commercial NMR spectroscopy system (Bruker DMX 600) are presented. A high sensitivity rf coil and strong gradient fields are essential for a micron resolution imaging. To obtain the high sensitivity and the strong gradient fields, a filling-factor-maximized rf coil of sub-mm diameter and a water-cooled small gradient coil are developed. The probe is formed using the rf coil and gradient coil set. By using the probe, microscopic MR images of a plant with 2 x 2 x 50 §©ø resolution, a water-filled phantom with 1.4 x 1.4 x 50 §©ø resolution, and a silicon micro structure with 1 x 1 x 50 §©ø
resolution are obtained.
